Yoga - Put Away PMS
Put Away PMS
A solution to send your monthly symptoms packing
Just when nothing could be more annoying than having someone tell you to do something else, we're gonna do it. When you're suffering from the irrational mood swings, undeserved bloating, torturous cramps, and nagging junk food cravings known collectively as PMS, better to hit the mat than the vending machine for relief. Ideally, do a few round of sun salutation to get your body warm up, couple of back bends to boost your mood, some gentle twists to beat bloating and a few soothing seated popses before a nice long savasana.
Bow pose (Dhanurasana)
Combat cramps and upset stomach with backbends, which mgets the spinal fluid moving and relieves compression in the vertebrae.
Begin by lying face down, arms at your side and chin on the floor. Reach back and grab your outer ankles, palm facing in. Breath in, pushing your hip bones down into the floor and kicking yojur legs back and up, which pull your arms back and lift your chest. Keep your head up in line with your spine (don't arch your neck) and hug your knees toward each other. Hold for 5 breaths, then release and return to the starting position, repeat 1 more set.
